About Josh Chui

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a strong commitment to supporting the emotional wellbeing and personal growth of children, adolescents, and adults. My professional journey spans psychology, social work, and education, bringing together decades of experience working alongside young people, families, and diverse communities across Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

I hold a Master of Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours Psychology), alongside qualifications in social work and education. I am a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with an area of endorsement in Clinical Psychology. I am also a registrant of the Accredited Register under the Hong Kong Institute of Clinical Psychologists (HKICP).

My background as a social worker and teacher has shaped a compassionate, practical, and relational approach to therapy, grounded in respect for each person’s unique experiences and strengths. Throughout my career, I have worked across schools, youth mental health services, correctional settings, Indigenous health services, hospitals, and community organisations. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the many factors that influence mental health and wellbeing, including relationships, identity, trauma, learning, culture, and life transitions.

As someone with experience living and working across different cultural contexts, I value culturally responsive and inclusive practice. In addition to English, I also provide therapy in Cantonese and Mandarin, which may support clients who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their preferred language or cultural framework.

My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based. I value creating a safe and non-judgmental space where people feel heard, understood, and supported. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and believe in tailoring interventions to the individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model.

I have particular interests in:

Anxiety and emotional regulation

Adolescent mental health and identity development

School-related stress and wellbeing

Trauma-informed practice

Behavioural and emotional difficulties in young people and adults

Supporting resilience, confidence, and self-understanding

Cross-cultural and inclusive practice

At Pure Heart Psychology, I aim to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and meaningful psychological support that helps individuals move towards greater clarity, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
